The waiter thinks its okay to wait 40 minutes for your order and that its standart for half empty restaurant in the Netherlands, and thinks its for them to decide if the food is tasty or not.
16€ For Play-Doh undercooked ramen. You can't also come with your own drinks, 3,50 for 330ml cola should be considered a crime. Good thing that two peppermints they provide, (apparently, to forget how their food tastes like) are somehow free.
No discount was provided, strongly urge you not to go there. Trust me, there are restaurants which can provide you food in under 10 minutes which would be way tastier then play doh.
(Update)
Most of the ramen leftovers were in the broth and under the leaves, which conveniently cover the obvious lack of actual noodles.
Regarding the soda can: yes, I did have a can with me. That does not affect the quality of the food, the waiting time, or how the situation was handled. €3.50 for 330 ml of cola remains excessive, and that was my point from the start.
You mentioned an “unwritten rule” about outside food and drinks. However, many restaurants in the Netherlands clearly allow this, or explicitly state their policy. For example, places like Misoji in Zwolle, McDonald’s, KFC, and others do not make this an issue. If a rule is important, it should be clearly communicated — not assumed or selectively enforced after the fact.
Your assumption about me being “non-European” is particularly inappropriate. It was made based on appearance and language, while most of your staff is Asian — which I have absolutely no problem with. The issue here is not origin, but profiling customers based on superficial traits.
To be clear: I had no complaints about the first waiter. His service and recommendations were perfectly fine. The problem began with the second waiter, whose attitude crossed a professional line.
Customers should not be judged or spoken down to based on how they look or what language they speak. This has no place in hospitality or business.
Finally, your response reads more like a personal attack than a professional reply from a restaurant owner. Instead of addressing the feedback, you chose assumptions and accusations.
This response only confirms my original experience.
Merry Christmas.
Although the menu included 8 dishes to share between two people, the portions were too small. Most of the food, particularly the sushi, was bland. However, there were two bright spots: the Vietnamese beef salad and the Thai soup were both tasty.
The drinks were on the expensive side, bringing our total to over 50+ euros despite the voucher. We ordered a passion fruit cocktail, but it was so sweet and syrupy that we wondered if it contained any alcohol at all.
The atmosphere felt a bit dated and lackluster; the Christmas decorations (some lights and a bare tree) felt like an afterthought and we're in my opinion unnecessary and distracting. On a positive note, the service was genuinely friendly. Ultimately, a deal should convince you to return for the full price, but based on this experience, I sadly won't be coming back.
